Address – Drogheda Co Louth
Project Details – Bridge Construction.
In early 2000 the roads minister in Ireland agreed funding for a bridge over the Boyne River in Drogheda Co Louth. This crossing now forms part of the M1 motorway linking Dublin to Belfast.
Haughey Metals Ltd removed all the construction scrap arising from building the new bridge as well as providing skilled labour in the steel construction phase of the contract. Environmental issues were a key concern with the river flowing throughout the duration of the loading and transportation of the scrap metal. The area was environmentally sensitive as it contained reed beds on the north bank and a little island in the middle of the river, which was home to many wildlife species. As always, Haughey Metals Ltd had to ensure minimal disruption or danger to the environment during this project. Haughey Metals Ltd is proud to have been involved in the construction of what is now one of Irelands most iconic structures.
